Ecocho is a new search engine trying to make a difference for climate change. For every 1000 searches users make on Ecocho we’ll counter balance or “offset” a ton of greenhouse gases. Imagine searching the web and saving the planet at the same time. How does that work? Glad you asked.

Ecocho is a free service, and it’s one of the easiest ways people can change everyday behaviour to make a positive impact on the environment. It allows you to search the web using your favourite search engine technology (Yahoo) and reduce greenhouse gases as you do it. Each time you use ecocho as your search engine, you’ll be helping to slow climate change.

How? For every 1000 searches that users make on ecocho.com, two trees will be grown to offset carbon pollution emissions. Switching to ecocho.com doesn’t alter or slow your search. Search results are displayed via technology you already know and trust – Yahoo!

ecocho.com is the world’s first known search engine that enables users to offset their own carbon emissions for free. ecocho.com is an international initiative to reduce global warming. The service is multi-lingual and is being rolled out globally.

Trees are grown via official Government-accredited projects. KPMG will run quarterly and final year-end audits on the amount of carbon credits purchased and “retired” by ecocho. Yahoo has given its full support to the project, contributing the search results for the site.

Now everyone can help reduce global warming by switching to ecocho.com as their internet search engine. A thousand searches on Ecocho allow us to buy enough carbon offset credits to remove 1 ton of CO2 from the atmosphere. This works out at two trees spending a year sucking CO2 from the atmosphere as they grow, which makes us very happy.

123brand is a service that puts creative types (all of us are creative, we just need to try!) in contact with those who need their opinion or their contribution. Two examples: – a company may need your opinion to select a logo from A, B or C. – a second company may ask for your help to find a name for a new product.

As soon as you register you will be assigned a “portfolio” which you will fill with points by participating on the website. Based on the points you accumulate you can select a gift from the catalogue, this is our first thank you for your activity. But there is more. The companies who enter a request for a contribution will award the winner with the item specified each time. And equally important, this is an excellent showcase for getting exposure in the communication and creative world, being able to demonstrate your ideas in the field is often much better than a good CV.

At some point you have certainly been faced with having to choose between A and B or to invent a new motto or claim. Yes, there are specialised agencies but sometimes you are too small and their costs are too high. Up to now the solution has been to ask your staff, friends or relations, even through in-house mailing lists, etc. Now there is something better, for a very low cost you can put your survey or request online making it visible to a potential number of creative types, customers and navigators which no mailing list can equal.

In generations past, the access people had to the Bible was very limited. Today, this is no longer the case. However, many people who have access to the Bible think its message does not apply to their lives. At the same time, there are others who believe there is a connection between the Bible and their every day experiences.

Over the last decade, the Internet has brought about a revolution which empowers people like never before. With the ability to share, contribute, create, broadcast and communicate, it’s easy to express who we are and what we believe with the rest of the world.

Since its start in 1996, LifeChurch.tv’s purpose has been to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ. In doing so, they have looked for new ways to help people connect the Bible to their daily lives. Their methods have changed over the years as they’ve incorporated various technologies and strategies. But at the core, their focus remains on relevancy as they consistently strive to demonstrate and teach people how God’s Word relates to everyone, no matter where they are in life.

YouVersion represents a new frontier in LifeChurch.tv’s efforts. They aren’t just building a tool to impact the world using innovative technology, more importantly, they are engaging people into relationships with God as they discover the relevance the Bible has for their lives.

An interesting project has been recently launched:EcoLibris

“Let’s start with the bottom line: we believe in providing people with easy and affordable ways to take responsibility for their actions and go green. We don’t believe in preaching doom and gloom. It’s not our style. We do believe in taking action and in the power of small changes to make a big impact.

Books are everywhere, just look around: on bookshelves at home, in college students’ backpacks, in the mail from the book club or in that pile in your room right now. For some people they’re for education, for others they’re an entertaining escapade and for some, reading is really a passion. Eco-Libris is for everyone. It is a green businees that enables people to do something reasonable, affordable yet with an impact: plant one tree for every book they read. We believe that taking responsibility for the environmental costs of the books we read is only natural.

We strive for a world where reading books doesn’t have adverse effects on the environment, and therefore our mission is to make reading much more sustainable than it is today. We are committed to doing our best for this to happen as quickly as possible. This is why we decided to aim high and to set a challenging goal for ourselves: we want to balance out half a million books by the end of 2008.

Eventually (and hopefully sooner then later), books will be made from recycled paper or other eco-friendly materials. But till then, we can still do something to make the world greener. We hope not only to see more trees being planted, but that the Eco-Libris sticker you get to put on the books you balance out will inspire you to keep looking for more ways to make a difference”.

BookLamp is a book recommendation system that uses the full text of a book to match it to other books based on scene-by-scene measurements of elements such as pacing, density, action, dialog, description, perspective, and genre. In other words, BookLamp.org is a Pandora.com for books, based on an author’s writing style. If you match against multiple books, the self-learning system adjusts your formulas to make the match specific to your tastes.

Because the system matches books through objective data from the text itself instead of relying on social networks to generate recommendations, the recommendations are impervious to outside influences such as advertising or author popularity. It also allows you to match to a far greater detail than alternative systems. With BookLamp, you can request a book similar to Stephen King’s The Stand, but half the length, first person, literary mainstream fiction, with slightly more dialog, less description, and a rising action level across the first 10 scenes. If that’s what you’re looking for.

Unique in the industry, Macroaxis Corporation’s financial engineering platform delivers measurable value in the form of improved return on clients’ intellectual property, productivity and managed assets for financial institutions.

The dot-com crash in the fall of 2001 marked a turning point for the web. Along with many other institutions, financial enterprises had to create an environment in which financial analytics could be created and distributed in a way that added immediate value to investors. At the same time, private investors became more sophisticated in interpreting and applying complex financial information demanding better, faster, and cheaper service. Reducing cost, streaming process, and simplifying the overall user experience became the main differentiator for many providers of financial applications and analytical platforms. Building on the current trends and leveraging the evolving web technologies, Macroaxis Corporat ion brings a new type of financial application, one that is based on simplicity, speed, and accessibility, making technology that was once offered only to professional money managers, available to the entire mainstream investing community.

Toluu is a utility that makes it easy to discover the feeds your friends read and find your new favorite feed. You import your feeds and then your friends can easily see what you actually read. You can also find others who have similar tastes in feeds as you do and discover feeds you may find interesting. It is quite simple.

Why would I use this?
We built Toluu because we knew that in our small group of geeky friends each of us had a couple feeds the others in the group would enjoy, we just didn’t know which ones! We didn’t want to be the guy who recommended a feed someone else already had, or worse, assume that someone already had that feed and never mention it. Toluu makes it less awkward to find out what your friends read and enjoy.

Is Toluu a feed reader?
No. We think there are dozens of fantastic feed readers out there right now and we know there are more to come. We like using our feed reader of choice and we bet you like your feed reader too. We see Toluu as a thin service that sits above your feed reader. A new way to ‘feed’ your feed reader (sorry for the pun). We do have a feed page, but it is truncated and is intended to serve as a taste of the feed, a quick way to determine if you are actually interested.
